I launched Beauty at the Bay fourteen years ago in the basement of my family home. After seven extremely busy years there it was time to take the plunge and move the salon to new, larger premesis on Bergholt Road where we are currently situated. I feel extremely proud to have such a wonderful, dedicated team around me and love nothing more than seeing so many faces from my basement days still visiting the salon after all this time – and all of the many new faces of course! My personal obsession is waxing – in my basement days a wonderful customer made me bunting with the words ‘The Queen of Wax’ and it kind of just stuck! (excuse the pun!)
I am the Salon Manager at Beauty at the Bay and have worked for the company since it first opened on Bergholt Road. I enjoy absolutely all aspects of beauty and I’m qualified in every treatment that we offer at Beauty at the Bay enabling me to run a tight ship. I have achieved Expert level with our skincare brand Dermalogica setting me amongst the highest trained and recognised Dermalogica skin therapists in the world. I’m a real perfectionist in my work and work hard to ensure our friendly and professional team give you the finest treatments around.
I have worked for Beauty at the Bay for about 5 years, having been with the company since completing my work experience. I have been lucky enough to grow with the salon having one on one training with Marie herself whilst I was still at college. Since then I have attended many brand specific courses to widen my knowledge and skills. I enjoy all aspects of beauty and I’m qualified in almost all of the treatments offered at Beauty at the Bay including our Dermalogica and Environ skincare brands. I have a gentle nature and aim to ensure that each and every one of my clients treatments are personalised to there needs. I have always had an artistic flare for nails but enjoy all of the treatments that I offer from facials to waxing.
I started in the beauty industry almost 4 years ago with my level 2 at Suffolk New College. I originally did the course to become a make-up artist however, once I learnt all of the different treatments I fell in love and make-up took a back seat. After finishing my level 2 I took a job with a skincare company with whom I worked for 2 years and developed a real passion for skincare. I then decided that I would focus more on treatment work and have taken myself back to college to study level 3 Beauty. I love to carry out massages but, facials are my favourite.
Having spent 3 years in the beauty industry I am as much in love with it as when I started. Whilst my industry experience is quite extensive, I’ve not been with Beauty at the Bay long but it’s by far the most rewarding job I’ve had. I’m looking forward to progressing even more in the business. I’m a very welcoming, approachable person who looks forward to pampering every customer I see.
I have been qualified in the beauty and holistic therapy for over 27 years and have enjoyed all aspects of this wonderful industry.
Lecturing and examining has allowed me to empower students to learn – this has been extremely fulfilling for me, as was volunteering at a local hospice, and the Look Good Feel Better cancer campaign-treating patients with reflexology, aromatherapy and well being.
I have also continued my therapy training in Asia, where I once lived, working with children with physical and mental disabilities. I am DBS Enhanced checked and have trained in Safeguarding.
I particularly enjoy all aspects of massage.
Recently I have developed and extending my skills in hot and cold stone massage, Thai foot, lava shell, Indian head and seated acupressure massage therapy. and how they are intrinsically linked to each other for a higher sense of well being to my clients. I am in the semi-finals for BABTAC’S ‘Holistic therapist of the year’ Award.
